WHOLE SCHOOL

FRIENDSHIP DAY: On Friday 14th of February, the British School will be celebrating Friendship Day with a number of different activities organised by our Student Council.  These include: the delivery of hearts and chocolates throughout the day, a music programme during lunch periods and a mobile photo booth.  In addition to these activities, students may come to school in jeans on this day with either a red, pink or white top in exchange for a suggested donation of c500.  All money that is raised from these donations will be used to support the Costa Rican team participating at the European Girls Maths Olympics.  We are delighted to announce that Nicole Lipschitz, one of our Secondary students, is a member of this team.

Friendship Day will also be used this year to promote one of our core school values: respect.  Different activities throughout the day, and in all year levels, will be undertaken to promote this important value.

ENGLISH TUTORIALS – YEAR 6 AND YEAR 7: We would like to inform all Year 6 and 7 students and parents that English tutorials are available each week on either Tuesday or Thursday between 3:00 pm and 4:00 pm, free of charge (these are in addition to the various tutorials that were advertised in last week’s bulletin).  If you are interested in these tutorials, please email Ms. Rojas (arojas@bscr.ed.cr) by 3:00 pm on Monday each week so that they can be scheduled.

MEDICAL FORMS: We would like to remind all parents that have not already done so, to please ensure that a complete and up to date medical form is handed into the School Reception as soon as possible.  These forms contain important information that the School’s medical and pastoral staff need in order to provide each of our students with the best service and support possible.

FRIDAY 21ST OF FEBRUARY – SCHOOL CLOSED FOR STUDENTS: On Friday 21st of February, the school will be closed for students from all year levels.  The reason for this is that all staff members will be participating in a number of workshops on this day related to our application for renewed accreditation with the New England Association of Schools and Colleges.  We apologize for any inconvenience that this causes to our community.

SECONDARY MATHS CLUB: The Secondary Mathematics Department will be starting an after-school Maths Club meeting every Thursday and starting on 13th of February.  Any student from Year 6 to Year 12 is welcome to come.  The activities that will be undertaken will depend on the needs and interests of the students in the club (please note, this is not a group for students to be given specialized tutoring).  Meeting place: Room 31, Time: 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm.
