Job Description

SECTION: 11 to 18 year olds

ACCOUNTABLE TO: Technology Manager/Heads of Primary-Secondary

START DATE: January, 2024

Main Responsibilities:
  • To design, implement, and deliver a comprehensive, hands-on Computer Science curriculum that integrates design, prototyping, programming and Robotics.
  • To foster critical thinking, creativity, problem-solving, and computational thinking through project-based learning, while ensuring alignment with STEAM pedagogy.
  • Teach and assess the Design and technology and IGCSE Curriculum, for Y6, Y7,Y8 students (Key stages 2,3,4).
  • Develop and implement lesson and activity plans, aligned with curricular progression.Guide students in the design and construction engineering process. Manage student projects.
  • Maintain a well-organized Makerspace environment and facilitate collaboration in the use of the resource in an interdisciplinary manner.
  • Support Steam activities across school, such as Steam fairs or Science Fairs.
  • Ensure that the curriculum reflects cross-cutting elements, with a sustainable and SDGs -focused approach.
  • Support the integration of technology in all curricular areas.
  • In collaboration with the line manager, develop and complete an annual Computing Curriculum Development.
  • Plan that aligns with the school’s strategic goals and contributes to educational innovation.
  • Manage makerspace resources, and materials.In coordination with the line manager or technology manager, support professional development through INSET and other means of professional development in the areas of technology as requested.
Person Specification:
QUALIFICATIONS ESSENTIAL DESIRABLE

➢ HTML and CSS fundamentals.
➢ Management of block and object-oriented programming languages, C + + , CS, Java, Javascript, Python, for student projects that involve electronics or robotics.
➢ Databases.
➢ Educational robotics using Microbit, Arduino, Raspberry pie, and electronics kits.
➢ Manufacturing techniques and knowledge in CAD, for 3D design and printing, for design and prototyping.

A recognized formal teaching qualification
A relevant Master’s degree
EXPERIENCE ESSENTIAL DESIRABLE
At least 2 years of experience in Steam methodology , preferably in international schools
Recent experience of teaching the I.B. Diploma and/or I.G.C.S.E. programme
PROFESSIONAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING ESSENTIAL DESIRABLE
Fluency or near-fluency in English
Ability to design work schemes that integrate makerspace resources, especially using project-based learning (PBL) to align activities with curricular objectives and encourage active learning.
Able to engage with students and to engender enthusiasm for learning
ATTRIBUTES ESSENTIAL DESIRABLE
Have effective communication, organization and time management skills
Be able to manage own workload effectively and respond swiftly to tight deadlines
