WEEK IN REVIEW: Week one of our second quarter saw us successfully resume our dual-learning model with students of all levels working both virtually and in-person each day. Over the mid-Semester break, our maintenance team worked extremely hard to create two additional ‘big’ learning spaces in our Secondary block which means that we will be able to provide more in-person learning days for our Year 6 and Year 7 levels throughout this quarter.

We would like to wish all members of our Community a happy, healthy and enjoyable second quarter!

STUDENT COUNCIL:In the last week of the first quarter, all Secondary students had the opportunity to participate in the elections for the 2021/22 Student Council. After all of the votes had been counted by the Student Electoral Tribunal, the political party Apollo were deemed the winners after having received 49.6% of the vote. We send our congratulations and thanks to each of the participating parties on a highly impressive election process and we wish Apollo the best of luck with their administration over the next 12 months:

President: Luis Roberto Campos (Y11)
Vice President: Rebeca López (Y10)
Secretary: Cristiana Mora (Y11)
Treasurer: Nicolás Donoso (Y12)
Vocal: David Brenes (Y8)

PARENT – TEACHER MEETINGS: We would like to remind all Secondary parents that the Parent-Teacher meetings for the first semester will take place on Wednesday the 21st of April between 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm. All meetings will be held virtually using the same Google Meet format that was utilised last year. An email was sent by the Administration to all Secondary parents on the 14th of April with details on how to sign up for these meetings. Please note that in light of these meetings, classes for Secondary students will end at 12 noon on this Wednesday (the finishing time for Early Years and Primary students remains at 2:00 pm).

HEALTH AND SAFETY:Due to the pending onset of the rainy season, we have now moved to our wet season afternoon pick up procedures. This means that all students who are collected by car will now be picked up in front of Reception each day regardless of whether they are in Early Years, Primary or Secondary levels. It is important to note that the Bus Depot will no longer be used to pick up Early Years students by car because we are using this roofed area to protect students from the rain. Students who are being picked up on foot may be collected either from the front of the Early Years block (Early Years students), from the side of the Bus Depot (Primary students) and from the gate by Reception (Year 5 and Secondary students). It is possible that these procedures may extend the pick-up process a little and thus we thank you for your patience and understanding.

SECOND QUARTER: will see us continue to focus on ensuring high levels of understanding and compliance with our emergency procedures. In the first quarter, our Community was extremely successful in demonstrating what they should do in the event of an earthquake. For the second quarter, our focus will be on our emergency evacuation procedures with all students being given the opportunity to participate in an emergency drill.
