School Bulletin 11 – 23rd April 2021

School Bulletin

VIRTUAL LEARNING CONTINUES: We have decided that we must continue with our virtual learning model next week. An explanation has been sent out in a separate mailing.

WEEK IN REVIEW: We would like to sincerely thank all students, staff members and parents for their collaboration and understanding as we temporarily reverted to our virtual learning model this week. The health and safety of our community will always be our highest priority and thus we greatly appreciated the support of our community on this issue. We would particularly like to highlight and thank our Early Years and Year 1 staff members and families who, with very little notice, successfully implemented an effective virtual learning structure so as to ensure that learning in these levels could continue despite students not being able to be on campus.

PARENT TEACHER MEETINGS:Many thanks to all parents who participated in the Secondary Parent-Teacher virtual meetings on Wednesday. If you were unable to attend a meeting for any reason please either contact Reception or the subject teacher directly to request a meeting in the coming weeks.

BOOK FORTNIGHT CELEBRATIONS: In recognition of World Book Day (Friday 23rd of April), The British School of Costa Rica is celebrating reading with a number of activities. Throughout this week, Secondary students were invited to participate in activities such as ‘Creative Writing Competitions’, ‘Become a BookTuber’, ‘Get Caught Reading’, ‘Literary Curiosities’, ‘Riddles’ and ‘Critical Reviews’. For this coming week, Early Years and Primary students will have the opportunity to participate in a range of activities including: ‘Drop Everything and Read’, ‘Reading in Strange Places’, ‘Write Some and Pass It On’, ‘Character Costumes’ and ‘Bedtime Stories’. Please see our Facebook page in the coming days for pictures of this celebration of reading.

HEALTH AND SAFETY:We would like to remind all members of our community that we are continually monitoring the latest information and revising our various operating procedures to ensure not only the ongoing safety of our community but also maximum efficiency. Please remember to notify our Infirmary staff immediately on of any situations related to Covid-19 within your social bubble.
