Sports Festival
The BSCR Sports Festival 2023 has started and we are very excited to share with you some highlights.

The opening was emotionally charged, with the entrance of the flags from each House. These reflect the spirit and values of the British School. The captains of all the sporting disciplines were in charge of the parade. In addition, we had special guests: Ms. Lucía Jiménez (ex-student and professional dancer) and Bryan Ruiz (former professional footballer). There were also some great performances by Year 4 and Year 9 showing their talent.

In each of the matches, our students have shown their desire to compete and represent the school in the best way possible in volleyball, basketball, football and badminton, from Year 1 to Year 12. In Early Years, the PE department prepared a rally full of challenges and excitement for the youngest students. The Year 3 football team won first place in their category. In addition, the school mixed basketball team has won its matches and we are also enjoying the internal badminton play-offs.

The Sports Festival, beyond sport, promotes spaces to share experiences, make new friends and even reconnect with some old friends, just like before the pandemic.  There are still many matches to play and we are sure that our students will give their best to represent the school in the best way possible.  Please follow us on Facebook and Instagram where we will be posting some photos and videos of the BSCR Sports Festival.

MOH/MEP Respiratory virus increase and preventative measures
The Ministry of Health has recently notified us of an increase in respiratory diseases and due to the upcoming rainy season urges the following preventive measures to continue to be implemented: frequent hand washing, correct cough and sneeze protocols, seeking medical attention when presenting cold symptoms, and keeping all vaccines up to date.

There have also been two new hospitalizations of minors due to Covid-19, including one in the Intensive Care Unit. As such, the Ministry of Health encourages those who have not completed their vaccination schedule to visit their local health centre to complete it.

Evacuation drill
Last week an evacuation drill was undertaken for everyone on campus. Increased familiarity with our procedures through drills, and staff and student training, resulted in a very well managed and implemented drill, with excellent behaviour and compliance from all students. Areas of improvement have also been noted and steps taken for their implementation.  Thanks to everyone who took part, especially to those staff members who had specific responsibilities during the drill.

Parent Council
Thank you to all Parent Representatives for their participation in this week’s Parent Council meetings.  The minutes for each meeting can be found below:
