WEEK IN REVIEW: Week 27 has been extremely busy here at The British School as we celebrated the second week of our Health and Wellness Festival.  We would like to thank our PE Team, the SDS Department and our Student Volunteers for providing two weeks of wonderful health and wellness activities.  On Thursday, the 9th of September students attended school in various costumes as we also celebrated Children’s Day with a range of fun activities for students of all ages.  Please see our Facebook page for photos of both activities.

NEASC ACCREDITATION VISIT: We would like to remind parents that we will be receiving a virtual visit from our NEASC accreditation team during the week of the 20th to the 24th of September.  During this week, a team of international education experts will be observing classes from all year levels to identify areas of strength in our educational delivery as well as potential areas for development.

CHANGES IN PICK-UP METHOD: We ask all parents to please inform both Tranosys and Reception by noon each day if there are any changes to the way in which students will be picked up (e.g. if a parent wishes their child to use the bus rather than being picked up  by car).  The reason for this is so that we have sufficient time to inform the relevant staff member so that students are not released at the incorrect time.

NEW TEACHER OF COMPUTER SCIENCE (Secondary): On Friday the 10th of September, we will be saying goodbye to Monica Villalobos, who is leaving us to take up a new professional opportunity.  We thank her for all that she has done for our students during her time with us.  In her place, we welcome Efrain Lopez as our new teacher of Computer Science for Years 8 to 12.  Efrain has a Bachelor’s degree in ‘Computacion e Informatica’ from the University of Costa Rica and a Master’s degree in Education and Computing from the University of Hartford in the USA.  Efrain has over 30 years of experience in the field with much of his career spent at the Omar Dengo Foundation.

INDEPENDENCE DAY: The British School will be celebrating 200 years of Costa Rican independence next week with a range of different activities.  As a part of this, students and staff members are invited to attend school on Wednesday 15th of September in Costa Rican national dress or non-ripped jeans, white shirt, handkerchief and hat (‘chonete’).

HEALTH AND SAFETY: We would like to remind parents that the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education requires mandatory mask use at all times whenever you are on campus (including when you are waiting in your car during the drop off and pick up processes).
