Welcome to the 2025 Academic Year
As we start the 2025 academic year, we would like to send a warm welcome to all members of our Learning Community.  We wish each of you a happy, healthy and productive 2025.

Back to School Nights
Thank you to all parents who attended our Back to School Nights this week.  The general presentations that were delivered in the Auditorium each evening can be accessed through the following links: Early Years & Primary / Secondary

Old Batteries – Collection Campaign
We are excited to announce an important initiative at BSCR: an old battery collection campaign.  This campaign, which is led by the Eco School Committee, is promoting the proper disposal of batteries, which, if not disposed of correctly, can harm the environment.  We encourage any member of our community to bring used batteries to school, where we will ensure they are recycled responsibly. This campaign is a great opportunity for us to work together as a community to protect our planet. Thank you for your support, and let’s make a positive impact by safely disposing of batteries!

School Uniforms
We would like to remind all parents that the official School Uniform, as provided by Tonka, is a mandatory requirement for students in all year levels.  Students who regularly wear clothes that are not a part of the official school uniform, including leggings, shorts and sweaters, will be asked to change and may, ultimately, be subject to disciplinary consequences.  Thank you for your understanding and support of this requirement.

BSCR Cafeteria
We would like to welcome our new Cafeteria service to the BSCR Learning Community.  Students, staff and parents may consult the services and menus that are being offered on either Instagram (cafeteria_BSCR) or Whatsapp (8603-7091)

House Colours Day
All students are invited to come to School in their House colours on Friday 31st of January, when we will be hosting our first House activities of the year.

End of Day Procedures
We would like to remind all parents that any changes to the way in which a student  will be leaving the School at the end of the day must be sent to Reception before midday using the email address reception@bscr.ed.cr.  In addition, any student, aged 12 and above, who would like to request a Gate Pass for the 2025 year may do so by submitting the following form to Reception – Gate Pass

Group 4 Project: A Creative Scientific Challenge
Our current Year 12 students recently completed the Group 4 Project, an interdisciplinary science activity required by the International Baccalaureate (IB). This project challenged students to collaborate across scientific disciplines — Environmental Systems and Societies, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics — to explore the processes and implications of science. It emphasized teamwork, planning, and creativity.

The project took place from November 18–22, 2024, during which students planned, constructed, and tested their Rube Goldberg machines. Both students and teachers had lots of fun with the suspenseful engineering involved with every test run, bringing anticipation, excitement, and a few dramatic moments when machines did not go as planned. The process was a blend of problem-solving, trial and error, and celebration when everything came together.

This engaging activity sparked curiosity, encouraged interdisciplinary collaboration, and fostered a deeper appreciation for science. You can view the students’ creative projects and their final Rube Goldberg machines on our website: Group 4 Project (please note that you can only access with a bscr.ed.cr email address so you will have to ask your son/daughter to click on the link using their school email account). Congratulations to the IB Class of 2025 for their ingenuity and hard work!

Cooperation of Parents
Once again we request that parents, collecting their children at 2.00 or 3.00 pm exit do not park and abandon their vehicles in the road (Avenida 33) to the West of the school gates … which must remain open as an EXIT road from the school at the end of the school day.  We cannot emphasise enough the danger involved of creating total gridlock around the school preventing the exit of other vehicles and the entrance of emergency vehicles.
