“Dispositivos electrónicos en la adolescencia”
Exit Procedures
We would like to respectfully ask all parents who pick up their children by car, at either 2pm or 3pm each day, to please ensure that they respect our queuing procedures at the entrance to the school. Parents are asked to form a single queue from the direction of Tobias Bolanos Airport (East) and not cut in line by turning left from the main road to enter the front entrance to the School.

Workshop – Staying Safe Online
During Health Week, our Year 5 students participated in an engaging workshop focused on staying safe while using social media and electronic devices. Led by an external guest speaker and a professional psychologist, the session aimed to empower students to make safe, respectful, and informed choices when navigating the digital world. As part of our ongoing commitment to student wellbeing, the workshop addressed key topics such as privacy, responsible device use, online interactions, and how to respond to inappropriate content. Students left the session with greater awareness and practical strategies to protect themselves in the digital age. Photo / Photo

National Honour Society
This year’s application process into the National Honour Society is now open. If a student wants to join the group they need to fill out the following form – Application Form. This form requires each applicant to confirm that two teachers support their candidacy by completing a recommendation form. Also, the candidate must be an honour roll student to join.
Students that are accepted into the NHS Chapter at BSCR will not only form part of a distinguished group of students recognized internationally, but will take part in team building, leadership and community-oriented projects. The application process runs from May 13th to May 27th with the Induction Ceremony being held in the second week of June (tentatively June 13th).
SAT (for Year 11 and 12 students)
This year’s next SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) will take place on Saturday, the 7th of June. The British School of Costa Rica will serve as a test centre on this date. The registration deadline is Thursday, May 22nd. The test fee is $111, payable online. For more information on 2025 test dates and deadlines, please visit the International SAT Dates.
The SAT is a standardized test administered by The College Board. Many universities worldwide, particularly in the United States, consider it either a requirement or an optional part of the application process. The SAT is now digital, and students are allowed to use their own computers or tablets. For practice and preparation resources, please visit the SAT Practice and Preparation Information. Khan Academy is an excellent free resource for SAT preparation. We recommend that students registering for the first time, schedule a meeting with Ana Lourdes Baumgartner, University Counsellor, to complete the process. If you have any questions, please contact Ana Lourdes at abaumgartner@bscr.ed.cr.
