Chess Tournament
Last Monday 29th of July was the closing of the Chess Tournament. We had a small assembly where all participating students were given certificates of participation, as well as medals to the winning children: Nicolás del Río (first place), Baolin Hu (second place), Lev Larionov (third place) and Benjamín Ruiz (fourth place) Foto 1. There was also an exhibition match between national team player and chess instructor José Antonio Vega and Nicolás del Río (Foto 2), as well as another game between Mr. Jones (Deputy Head of Secondary) and Mr. Stevens (Primary teacher) (Foto 3). In addition, some upper Secondary students were able to play with Mr. Jones and José Antonio Vega (Foto 4 and Foto 5). It was a fantastic closure!
Thanks to all who, in one way or another, collaborated and supported us to make this event happen, and to the students who participated in the tournament: All the best! May your dreams come true. Keep going! You have an extraordinary talent of a very high level and you showed very important values during the whole tournament!

“Solidarity Concert” with Roblealto children
Year 9 students performed a concert in the auditorium during the lunch break on Thursday 1st of August to raise funds for the Roblealto Association’s “Education Fund” which supports children in vulnerable conditions. This event highlighted the teamwork, the excellent organisation and the willingness of the students, who extended the invitation to all Secondary students. Congratulations to Santiago Gazel, Charlie Bullock and Isaac Sossin for their participation in the concert, as well as the Year 9 generation for organising this activity. Through Service Learning projects like this one, students find creative ways to support different groups, using their knowledge, skills and talents.
UCR Vocational Fair
The students of Year 11 National Baccalaureate and Year 12 attended the annual Vocational Fair organised by the University of Costa Rica on Tuesday 6th of August. During this event, they had the opportunity to visit the Rodrigo Facio campus and deepen their knowledge of the careers and curricula offered by this university through presentations and information booths run by professors and advanced students of the UCR. You can find valuable information about the Fair, the admission process, and the educational options here: link.
