General
Email Addresses
We would again request that, when parents send emails to the school, they do everything possible to send them to the INDICATED address (e.g. clubs@bscr.ed.cr or recepcion@bscr.ed.cr) and not simply “reply” to the general school addresses such as “info” and “brit.sch.cr”.
Food Allergy and Intolerances Procedures
We would like to remind all members of our Learning Community that we have defined procedures for the management of food allergies and intolerances on campus. Ultimately, we are committed to ‘promoting healthy lifestyles and good nutritional habits while providing an inclusive and safe environment for all of its learners.’ To that end if a parent/guardian would like to send food to school (e.g. to celebrate a birthday) there are two options:
- Send food that all members of the class can consume (parents should check with the Form Teacher beforehand to confirm if there are any students with allergies or intolerances) or
- Send a message to the parents in the class, through the Form Teacher, with details of what food they will be sending to School so that the parents of children with allergies or intolerances can send suitable alternatives to School on that day. The message sent to parents should be sent with at least 72 hours’ notice to give sufficient time (i.e. parents/guardians are required to inform the Form Teacher with at least 3 days’ notice so that the Form Teacher can inform the other parents in the group).
Friendship Day
On Friday the 14th of February, the British School Learning Community will be celebrating Friendship Day. In recognition of this we invite all members of our community to come to school dressed in either white, pink or red on this day.
Early Years and Primary
Primary Student Council Elections.
Next week, children from Year 1 to Year 5 will, together with their Social Studies teachers, elect their class representatives, who will form the Primary Student Council for 2025. The process will be carried out by secret ballot, after the candidates have presented themselves to their peers in each respective Year Group, expressing their ideas and proposals for the role. This is one of many ways in which leadership opportunities are offered to our students in Primary.
Chinese New Year
Monday’s weekly Primary Assembly was led by a small group of Year 4 students (Becky Chen Wu, Katrina Qiu Liu, Harry Lin He and Juliana Wu Wu ) who shared with us a wonderful presentation about the Chinese New Year. This fascinating insight into Chinese culture aligns perfectly with our school Mission Statement supporting us in, “developing globally aware” students.
Year 5 Residential Camp
The Year 5 students, teachers and Year 11 / 12 mentors safely arrived at their residential camp in San Ramon. Over the three-day camp they will have a wonderful opportunity to display the full range of the School’s Values in a real-life setting as well as develop their leadership and social skills. Further news and a full range of photos will be available next week. Photo 1 / Photo 2

This test assesses their current skills of Reading and Use of English, Writing, Speaking and Listening. There is no need for students to further prepare for this test.
