WEEK IN REVIEW: The first week back after the mid-semester break has seen our students quickly re-focus on their learning for the final eight weeks of the academic year. The start of this quarter has seen us once again increase our student presence on campus and we now have 13 of our 15 year levels (approximately 87% of our student body) receiving in-person learning on campus at any one time.
Week 30 has also seen the start of our Student Council’s Spirit Weeks. For the first two weeks of this quarter, the Student Council have organised a number of activities for Secondary students aimed at motivating them for the final quarter while also promoting school unity and spirit. Highlights from this week have included a range of dress up days, video game tournaments, table-tennis, an art competition and preparation for the final Talent Show.
Finally, we would like to wish our Year 10 students the very best of luck as they take their final IGCSE examinations in the subject of English and Physical Education in the coming days:
English – Friday the 8th of October and Wednesday 13th of October (2 exams)
Physical Education – Tuesday 12th of October (1 exam).
MATRICULATION REMINDER: We are excited to announce that auditions for our end of year Primary Talent Show are already under way. Students were provided with the details on how to submit an audition earlier this week. If you have any questions about audition process of the Talent Show in general then please contact our Head of Primary, Mr. Evans – mevans@bscr.ed.cr.

YEAR 7 HISTORY: The History Department was thrilled to be able to host two virtual visits in the final days of the third quarter. Year 7 hosted a virtual visit by an archaeologist/curator from the Jade Museum who discussed the importance of museums in promoting our shared heritage and revealed some of the tasks and challenges that are involved in finding, preserving and displaying the artefacts in exhibitions. We encourage all families to visit the museum to find out more about the fascinating History all around us.
Year 11 Historians also took part in a virtual visit with a question and answer session with a Cuban who has recently moved to Canada. The class is studying the regime of Fidel Castro and it was fascinating to be able to ask about our visitor’s experiences and impressions from living on the island. Experiences like these are very valuable in connecting our learning in the classroom to the world beyond and reinforcing that History is not the ‘story of the past’ but is instead a dynamic and evolving discipline.
