1st Quarter Review
As the first quarter draws to a close we would like to wish all members of our Learning Community a happy, healthy and well-deserved Semana Santa vacation.

Items from the International Fair
Please note that some of the parents who helped at the International Fair left some items at school. We do not know to whom they belong as they were not labelled. The items are: a small rectangular wooden table, a small white folding table, a green extension cord, and a baby carrier. If you are the owner of any of these items, please contact Ericka Phillips at ephillips@bscr.ed.cr to arrange delivery.

4:00 pm Bus
For the second quarter we are working with Tranosys to see if they can provide an After School bus service leaving the School at either 4:00 pm or 4:30 pm.  If you are potentially interested in utilising this service can you please email academics@bscr.ed.cr and include the number of days that you would likely use a service like this per week as well as the name of the neighbourhood (e.g. Escazú / Santa Ana, etc.) where you would like your child to be dropped off.  We will then follow up with interested parents at the start of Quarter Two.

Primary

Neurodiversity
Throughout this week, we have been giving extra attention to the term “Neurodiversity” – relating to understanding terms like ADHA, Tourette’s, Dyslexia, etc. Teachers have mentioned that the students have shown a great interest in talking about these conditions. On Tuesday we also emphasized Down Syndrome Awareness with the students. It is very good to know that our students are very willing and keen to share their understanding, examples and experiences about all of these important topics.

The Battle of Santa Rosa
On Monday, Year 4 students performed a drama presentation, during our assembly, to teach everyone about the Battle of Santa Rosa. They all did a wonderful job presenting this important event in Costa Rican history.

Year 3 Exit Points
On Wednesday, our Year 3 students invited parents to their “Rainforests” Exit Point. The students shared projects connected to Art, Literature and Science with their parents. The study of cocoa beans and chocolate making was a particular favourite of many of our Year 3 students.

Year 2 Exit Points
On Thursday and Friday, Year 2 students invited their parents into school for their “What’s on the menu” Exit Point. This theme helps the students to better understand what healthy eating is. To show this, the students turned part of the Primary School into a restaurant and served their parents examples of healthy eating foods.

Report Cards
Report Cards are now ready and you should receive them via email on Friday for Early Years students and Monday / Tuesday for Primary students.  Teachers will also soon be emailing their class parents to arrange Parent Meetings for the first two weeks of the 2nd quarter.

Secondary

Jeans Day
On Friday of last week, Secondary students were invited to attend school wearing jeans as an NHS fund-raising activity.  A total of 116,800 colones was raised which will be donated to the Fundación Pro Unidad de Cuidado Paliativo Pediátrico, Esperanza Urbana and Animales de Asís.

Report Cards
Report Cards will be sent to all Secondary parents on Monday or Tuesday of next week.
