General

Vehicle TAGS / Child Protection
To further improve the implementation of our vehicle management system, Google Forms were sent to all parents/caregivers. Completion of the Google Form is mandatory for all parents/caregivers. From Wednesday, June 7th, any vehicle identified entering campus to collect a student, which does not have a valid and up-to-date TAG, will be asked to park in a designated parking bay and go to reception to show proof of authorisation.  Requests for new TAGs, or for existing TAGs to be updated, should be sent to: quickpass@bscr.ed.cr

Costa Rican Association for Children with Cleft Lips and/or Palate
We would like to thank all members of our Learning Community who contributed to our fundraising initiatives to support the Costa Rican Association for Children with Cleft Lips and/or Palate.  In total, we raised ₡682,648 to donate to this important cause.

Primary

School Value – Independence
Our Primary Assembly this week focused on the skills that are needed for students to become more independent. All of these skills require students to think about their actions and possible consequences. We will be continuing with this theme throughout the remainder of this quarter.

Lost Property
We would like to remind members of our Community about the importance of labelling clothing and water bottles; we still have many water bottles and sweatshirts in our lost property area with no names. As a result, we would greatly appreciate parental support in ensuring that each child’s possessions are all labelled.

Primary Talent Show
The Primary Talent Show is on Friday, 8th September. All Talent Show audition recordings need to be sent to Mr. Evans (mevans@bscr.ed.cr) before the end of August. Recordings should be 1 to 2 minutes in length.

Early Years 3 Exit Point & Early Years 2 Virtual Tour
Next week Early Years 3 are inviting parents to their Exit Point activity on Thursday. The presentation will show the parents what the students have learned this quarter studying the topic of Mini Beasts. On Friday Early Years 2 will be taking a very exciting virtual reality tour of the Ocean with the help of some specialised equipment being brought into school.

Secondary

Positive Masculinity Workshops
Throughout this week, male students from Years 8, 9 and 10 have been participating in workshops focused on preventing ‘machismo’ and promoting positive masculinity.  These workshops, facilitated by the Wem Institute, are part of the BSCR’s ongoing commitment to promoting our core School values of respect and responsibility.

Year 8 Plays
We would like to congratulate each of our Year 8 classes, along with their Teachers, for a fantastic set of theatrical performances last Friday inspired by the TV Series, The Twilight Zone.

Peggy Guggenheim Collection – Internship Programme
Congratulations to our alum, Daniela Murrillo, on being accepted into the prestigious internship programme at the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice, Italy.
